Dosage / Direction for Use
Vometa oral susp Chronic dyspepsia Adult 10 mg tid. Childn 2.5 mg/10 kg tid. Nausea & vomiting Adult 10-20 mg tid-qid. Vometa oral drops Childn 2.5-5 mg/10 kg or 0.3-0.6 mL/5 kg tid-qid. Vometa FT Chronic dyspepsia 10-20 mg tid & 10-20 mg at bedtime. Nausea & vomiting Adult & elderly 10-20 mg. Childn 0.2-0.4 mg/kg. Doses taken at 4-8 hrly.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 15-30 min before meals.
Contraindications
Intolerance. GI bleeding, mechanical obstruction or perforation. Prolactinoma & tumor hypohyloma. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Antacid must be given after meals & not administered concomitantly w/ domperidone. Avoid long-term treatment. Hepatic impairment. Possible neurological side effect in infants <1 yr. Renal insufficiency.
Side Effects / Adverse Reactions
Rash & urticaria. Hyperprolactinemia (breast tenderness & enlargement, galactorrhea & gynecomastia).
Interactions
Anticholinergics, antacids & antisecretory drugs. Concomitant administration of oral drugs especially sustained release or enteric coated drugs.
