Dosage: This medicine is taken orally (by mouth), 3 times a day 1-2 hours after meals with a full glass of water.
Do not take on an overly full stomach.: Do not use for more than 2 weeks unless prescribed by a doctor.

Missed Dose: If the patient missed a dose, just take the next dose if still needed for the condition being treated and the subsequent doses at the recommended time or schedule.
Do not double the dose.
Overdosage: Signs and Symptoms of Overdosage: Sodium Bicarbonate overdosage results in metabolic alkalosis manifested by hyperirritability and/or tetany (severe muscle cramps).
If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage, consult a doctor immediately.
Administration: Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1-2 hr after meals w/ a full glass of water.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity. Edematous Na-retaining conditions eg, CHF, HTN, kidney failure, edema or liver cirrhosis. Restricted Na diet. W/ trouble or pain swallowing food, have bloody or black stools or vomiting blood.
Special Precautions: Do not take more than the recommended dose and duration of treatment.
Consult the Doctor: Tell the doctor before use if: The patient is pregnant or breastfeeding.
The patient has ever had high blood pressure, congestive heart failure or kidney disease.
The patient recently had stomach or intestinal bleeding.
Tell the doctor if the patient experienced severe symptoms of: Stomach cramps, Increased thirst, Gassiness.
Stop the use of Sodium Bicarbonate and tell the doctor immediately if: The patient's condition does not improve or worsens.
The patient experiences severe headache, upset stomach, loss of appetite, irritability, weakness, frequent urge to urinate, slow breathing, and swelling of feet or lower legs.
The patient has blood in the urine and vomit that resembles coffee grounds.
The patient has bloody, black or tarry stools.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation: Tell the doctor before use if the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding.
Side Effects / Adverse Reactions: Abdominal distension, belching, flatulence; metabolic alkalosis in patients w/ impaired kidney function; milk-alkali syndrome; tetany in patients w/ low blood Ca levels; Na overload.
Interactions: May cause milk-alkali syndrome w/ milk or Ca. Decreased urinary excretion of flecainide, mecamylamine, quinidine, sympathomimetics, anorexants; chlorpropramide, lithium, methotrexate, salicylates & tetracyclines. Increased absorption w/ naproxen.
Mechanism of Action: These products contain Sodium Bicarbonate, an antacid.
