Dosage / Direction for Use
1 beige tab daily starting on the 1st day of the cycle for 21 days, then the 7 white tab taken as 1 tab once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Liver & clotting disorders, breast & cervical cancer, sickle-cell anemia, hormone-active tumors, hyperlipidemia, severe CV disease, previous or existing thromboembolic diseases, idiopathic jaundice. Not recommended for pregnant women. Lactation.
Special Precautions
DM, high BP, varicose veins, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, migraine, ophthalmological problems, tetany.
Side Effects / Adverse Reactions
Headache, gastric upsets, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps; changes in appetite, breast tenderness, changes in body wt & libido; depressive moods or interference w/ liver functions.
Interactions
Decreased efficacy w/ drugs for infection (eg, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, neomycin, penicillin V, nitrofurantoin, sulfonamides, tetracycline & INH), pain (analgesic, anti-migraine & tranquilizer) & hepatic enzyme inducers eg, antiepileptics (carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, felbamate, topiramate, phenytoin), antifungal (griseofulvin), antidiabetics (troglitazone), musculoskeletal (eg, phenylbutazone) & anti-TB (rifampicin). May inhibit cytochrome P450 isoenzyme 3A4 w/ anti-infectives (eg, clarithromycin, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, ritonavir) or grapefruit juice. Increased risk of cholestatic jaundice w/ troleandomycin.
