HIVENT NEBULE RETAIL (NEBULE)

Dosage / Direction for Use Hivent soln for nebulization 2.5-5 mg via nebulizer to be repeated up to qid. Hivent DS By wet inhalation 2.5-5 mg, may be repeated up to qid. Severe airway obstruction Up to 40 mg/kg/day under medical supervision. Nebule Adult & childn Severe bronchospasm & status asthmaticus Initially 2.5 mg but may be increased to 5 mg, may be repeated up to qid via nebulizer. Hivent Plus Adult Acute attacks 2.5 mL for prompt symptom relief, may increase to 5 mL in severe cases if attack has not been relieved. Maintenance: 2.5 mL every 6-8 hr daily. Childn 2-12 yr 3 drops/kg/dose. Max: 2500 mcg (2.5 mg) of salbutamol every 6-8 hr. Contraindications Hypersensitivity. HiventThyrotoxicosis. Threatened abortion (1st & 2nd trimester). Hivent Plus Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy or tachyarrhythmia. Special Precautions CV diseases eg, ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmia or tachycardia, occlusive vascular disorders including arteriosclerosis, HTN or aneurysm. Pregnancy & lactation. Hivent Anginal pain in patients w/ angina pectoris; convulsive disorders, hyperthyroidism or DM. Increased susceptibility to digitalis-induced cardiac arrhythmias. Patients taking other sympathomimetic drugs. Not indicated for prevention of premature labor associated w/ toxemia of pregnancy or antepartum hemorrhage. Hivent Plus Paradoxical bronchoconstriction may occur. Can produce clinically significant cardiovascular effect. Should not be given in patients w/ close- & narrow-angle glaucoma. Thyrotoxicosis, heart failure & cardiac surgery. Acute MI Side Effects / Adverse Reactions Fine tremor of the hands. Muscle cramps, tension, headache. Hivent Tachycardia, palpitations, flushing. Feeling of nervousness. Hivent Plus Peripheral vasodilation. Difficulty in micturition, vomiting, urinary retention & dyspnea. Dryness of mouth w/ difficulty swallowing & talking, thirst & reduced bronchial secretions. Flushing & dryness of skin. Transient bradycardia followed by tachycardia w/ palpitations & arrhythmia. Interactions Effects are antagonized by propranolol or other β-adrenoceptor blocking agents. High doses of corticosteroids may exacerbate metabolic effects of high dose β2-agonist. Hivent May enhance effects w/ aminophylline or xanthine. May increase susceptibility to digitalis-induced cardiac arrhythmias. Hivent Plus May enhance ipratropium effects w/ anticholinergic drugs. Sympathomimetics may antagonize the effects of anti-hypertensive agents. Potentiated sympathomimetic activities of β-agonists w/ MAOIs. Acute worsening of hypokalemia w/ non-K sparing diuretics eg, loop & thiazide diuretics.
