Special Precautions:
Liver/kidney problem, stomach/duodenal ulcer, bronchial conditions associated w/ increased mucus production/decreased mucus clearance. Other cough suppressants. Tab is not recommended for childn <6 yr. Syr contains azo dye - Ponceau 4R which may cause allergic reactions. Pregnancy (1st trimester) & lactation. Use of syr/oral drops is not recommended for childn <2 yr.
Side Effects / Adverse Reactions:
Nausea, oral & pharyngeal, decreased feeling/sensitivity, taste disturbance. Severe allergic reactions, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP)
Dosage / Direction for Use:
Tab Adult & adolescent >12 yr 1 tab bid-tid (Max: 120 mg/day in divided doses). Childn 6-11 yr ½ tab tid. 15 mg/5 mL syr Adult & adolescent >12 yr 10 mL bid-tid. Childn 6-11 yr 5 mL bid-tid, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL tid, <2 yr 2.5 mL bid. 30 mg/5 mL syr Adult & adolescent >12 yr 5 mL bid-tid. Childn 6-11 yr 2.5 mL bid-tid, 2-5 yr 1.25 mL tid, <2 yr 1.25 mL bid. Oral drops Childn 2-5 yr 1 mL tid, <2 yr 1 mL bid.
