Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hypercalcemia, kidney impairment or any disease associated w/ hypercalcemia.
Side Effects / Adverse Reactions
Ca: Hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, vascular & soft tissue calcification & nephrolithiasis. Minor GI disturbances eg, bloating, constipation, flatulence & nausea. Zn >30 mg: Nausea & vomiting.
Special Precautions
Do not use more than the recommended dose unless recommended by a doctor.
Consult a doctor: If any undesirable effect occurs.
Women who are pregnant should have regular prenatal check-up with their doctor.
Interactions
Ca: May reduce absorption of bisphosphonates (eg, alendronate, etidronate, risedronate), quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin) & tetracyclines. Decreased absorption w/ other products containing Ca & foods rich in oxalic acid (eg, spinach, sweet potatoes & beans) & phytic acid (unleavened bread, raw beans, seeds, nuts, & grains). Vit D: Concomitant intake of other products containing high dose vit D may result in excessive doses of vit D. May reduce absorption w/ mineral oils, olestra, orlistat & bile acid sequestrants (eg, cholestyramine, colestipol). May decrease effect w/ anticonvulsants, cimetidine & thiazide.
